Scots Wha Hae
A big thanks to Sandy who has done some research and found a very old tune called Katharine Ogie. It first appeared with it's own lyrics in William Thomson's "Orpheus Caledonius", published in London in 1725. This was the first major collection of Scottish songs to appear in print, although it is likely that the tune pre-dates its publication by some years. In 1792 Burns used the melody to set his song "Highland Mary", a posthumous tribute to his doomed lover "Highland" Mary Campbell (c1763-1786).
